Environmental Discourse Analysis Fear Expressions in Moroccan

Eco-documentary

The present book provides a framework for comprehending rhetorical and literary skills in a way that they persuasively support the client story: moving stories are those which synergically merge the two components. Embracing a rhetorical and a literary knowledge, inter alia, in writing clients' stories is what lawyers require. This book helps understand the implications behind the use of the rhetorical and the literary techniques to construct legal storytelling. It is so interesting in many aspects. First, it places a clear emphasis on rhetorical devices and literary techniques. Secondly, it considerably contributes to the pleadings effectiveness by virtue of the rhetorical ingredients that could add more drama and emphasis to clients’ issues. Finally, much space is given to discuss the literary techniques evident in clients reported stories that Moroccan lawyers embed in written pleadings

Environmental Discourse Analysis Fear Expressions in Moroccan Eco-documentary

Eco-documentary, a cinematographic genre on the environment, is a media construct meant to raise environmental awareness. It exposes environmental crises and attempts to present solutions for their degradation. This book analyzes patterns of 'fear' and 'threat' in a Moroccan Eco-documentary by Amouddou production agency on the degradation of a lagoon in the North East of Morocco. In line with Witte’s et al. (1996) model of 'perceived severity' and 'perceived susceptibility', and within the framework of Eco- linguistics, the book examines linguistic patterns of 'fear' and 'threat' to reinforce the argumentative process in stories and testimonies of actors. Finally, the book provides some recommendations for eco-documentary producers, institutional organs, and future research to examine unexplored facets of eco-documentaries that document damages and exploitation of the environment.

Current Issues in Environmental Discourse

The environmental theme has been strongly debated over thelast few decades all over the world to reflect a collectiveconsciousness regarding human practices towards nature. After a long time debate, the discourse used to analyze studyand discuss the issue leaves no doubt that it is an ecologicalcrisis. Today, the environmental discourse is a privilegedsource of mediation and apprehension of environmentalissues embraced by both the highly erudite and the ordinarylayman. The environmental discourse can be seen as anemergent specialized discourse in the sense that it includesdifferent types of communication and terminology put inplace in the field. Actually, the concept of the environment iscontroversial which makes the discourse about it an area ofinterest whereby multiple ideological perspectivesintertwine. In this direction, the discourse about theenvironment can be any discourse that aims at contributingto the preservation, protection or regeneration of theenvironment. The theme of this book, ' Current Issues inEnvironmental Discourse ', embraces all the communicationand practices carried out by the media, organizations, political parties, or any other intervening actor on the publicstage, to deal with the theme of the environment. Theobjective of this book, then, is to cover a relativelyheterogeneous set of discourses the content of which reflecton new visions and attitudes that thoroughly examineenvironmental issues: the book is an opportunity tounderstand current and emerging trends, achievements andchallenges in the domain. Eventually, this collective work is aplatform to reiterate that the alignment of environment anddiscourse can throw light on the way environmental issuesare perceived and interpreted in different disciplines.

Transformations of Meaning and Investments in the Field of Applied Linguistics:

The Doha Historical Dictionary of Arabic Language as a Case

Translation is the process of converting spoken or written content from one language to another. It involves the careful consideration of language structure, cultural context, and meaning in order to produce an accurate and natural-sounding translation. Compilation of bilingual dictionaries, on the other hand, involves gathering and organizing vocabulary from two different languages in a comprehensive and accessible way. This process requires a deep understanding of both languages and the ability to identify and translate subtle nuances and idiomatic expressions. Bilingual dictionaries are an essential tool for language learners, translators, and professionals working in international contexts. They enable effective communication across languages and facilitate the transfer of information, ideas, and knowledge. The process of compiling a bilingual dictionary is a challenging but rewarding task that requires expertise in both languages, as well as a thorough understanding of the principles of lexicography.

This edited volume investigates multiple perspectives of environmental meaning-making among children by evaluating preschool children's drawings on the environment. It critically traces the formation of early attitudes towards the environment before children's exposure to formal environmental education. Similarities and differences are explored among preschool children's drawings across diverse cultural and geographic backgrounds. Over five sections covering Morocco, Indonesia, Nigeria, Iraq, and Argentina, each one examines the factors affecting children's environmental drawings, such as age, gender, and geography. Using different theoretical frameworks, the chapters are written by researchers of environmental discourse and ecolinguistics with a background knowledge in environmental studies from a social science perspective. This book is of interest to researchers interested in ecolinguistics and socio-semiotics fields of study. This seminal book also paves the way for further research on preschool environmental education.

Conference Proceedings Applied Linguistics in the Age of Artificial Intelligence

WhatsApp Image 2025-05-20 à 10.23.27_a23698cc.jpg

In recent decades, humanity has witnessed technological revolutions that have reshaped every aspect of life. Among these transformations, the rise of Artificial Intelligence (AI) stands out as one of the most profound, defining our present age and influencing fields as diverse as education, health, communication, and beyond. Just as the eras of digitization, the internet, and social media brought revolutionary changes, the Age of Artificial Intelligence has redefined the frameworks through which we understand and interact with the world. This book aims to explore the significant impact of AI on applied linguistics and its various subfields, including educational linguistics, sociolinguistics, legal linguistics, neurolinguistics, psycholinguistics, clinical linguistics, and more. As AI systems and applications increasingly simulate human intelligence, their integration into linguistic research and practice offers remarkable opportunities to innovate and advance.

In the same vein—namely, the effort to explore the potential benefits that advances in linguistic and computational research tools may bring to the Arabic language—and in tribute to Dr. Aze-eddine Bouchikh, whose numerous studies and contributions have significantly enriched both theoretical and applied linguistics, the conference devotes a dedicated space to examining his body of work. His research spans several areas, including communicative competence components, models of natural language users, and the analysis of semantic, pragmatic, syntactic, and lexical phenomena within the framework of the functional approach. Additionally, his work has addressed computational language representation, lexicographic industry development, machine translation, and language teaching.
